About Us

Know Our Story And How We Work.

We are a Pan-African leader in advancing mental health, dignity, and research for communities too often left out of systems care.

Founded in 2017, Taala began as a community-led response to the absence of safe, inclusive mental health support in restrictive environments. Today, we work across Africa to close the wellness gap for those navigating systemic barriers to dignity, safety, and wellbeing.

Our work combines trauma-informed care, digital innovation, research, and advocacy to address not only immediate mental health needs, but also the structural inequities that create them. We believe that mental health is not a luxury,  it is a right.

By building responsive, evidence-driven, and culturally rooted wellness systems, Taala is creating spaces: physical, digital, and institutional — where individuals can reclaim their voice, their safety, and their future.

Why We Exist

Across Africa, mental health care is chronically underfunded, heavily stigmatised, and often inaccessible. For communities already excluded from health and social systems, this gap is even wider. Taala exists to close this gap — creating care systems that are inclusive, sustainable, and led by those most affected.

OUR MISSION AND VISION
